So as I struggle through my second term workload I recently started research for an essay on the fashion industry. I came across a very interesting talk by James Scully as part of The Business of Fashion Voices series (linked below). The casting director talked on the unfair treatment and well, pretty much abuse models suffer at the hands of stylist and designers.
Some interesting points were risen about the loss of individuality and diversity that seemed to have come and gone in the industry. James Scully mentioned how labels such as Prada adopted a 'look' which defined the industry of a girl, with no shape and lack of femininity becoming essentially the face of fashion. As a result a domino effect occurred whereby other labels created copycats of this one look and saturated the entire industry.
Such a shocking insight into the fashion industry but worth a watch!

LFW Update: Edeline Lee
On Saturday I had the opportunity to see the AW17 Womenswear collection by Edeline Lee. The presentation held at The Barge House in South Bank had a really cool warehouse vibe with TV's dotted around the loft like building. The models slowly moved around the room to be photographed in front of different backdrops whilst I stood in awe of how beautiful they all were. The styling was edgy but classic with one lip coloured and natural hair that really created an elegant aesthetic that juxtaposed against the location. However, I 100% could not pull this one lip look off- as much as I want to try!!!
The collection in all was really exciting with clean silhouettes that had a futuristic feeling. I wanted so many of the pieces but I'd have to skip rent and food for the next year so I cannot justify buying anything- unfortunately. So glad I got to see the presentation and look forward to seeing more from the designer in the future. #windowshopping
Definitely recommend looking the designer up if you don't know her!!

Black Cat, Hackney
Finding some cool vegan places around London is actually more fun than stressful. With the rise in the trend of being 'vegan' loads of restaurants now offer vegan options and alternatives. However, it's still hit and miss going out for food in a place than isn't 100% vegan.
Anyway the other day I ventured out to Hackney with a few of my girls and we came across Black Cat. It's a volunteer run spot for delicious food with everything on the menu being vegan- even the blonide brownies and milkshakes!!
Highly recommend this spot if your in the East area of London. Guilty free, good food with good fast service.

#Inspo Anna Sui FW17
Feeling super inspired by the FW17 NWFY Anna Sui collection. Bella Hadid is absolute goals along with her big sister Gigi. In love with styling with the sassy space buns and dark blue heavy eye shadow. Definitely want to steal this look with the paisley print jumpsuit and blue fur coat- so much love. #needfunds

Today's essentials. I love a good coffee table book just to flick through the pages and feel inspired. I'm still obsessing over my Instaxmini8 Polaroid camera- the best way to capture memoires whilst at UNI!

Unisex Trend
Last year I started the first year of my fashion marketing degree. One of the areas of the course I really enjoyed learning about was the trend forecasting industry. Websites such as WGSN and Stylus are some of the top trend forecasters not just in fashion but across all areas such as interior design. Anyway, one of the projects for my degree was to identify a trend and complete a portfolio surrounded the trend.
Researching for the trend involved looking beyond fashion to art, music and even social issues and cultural shifts in the news. The trend I identified was the rise in unisex consumerism and the progress of breaking gender barriers. I found some really interesting unisex designers such as Rad Hourani and looked into new wave feminism for the project. I especially found it really interesting that millennial fashion consumers were more likely to cross into the opposing gender sectors within a store- which I low key always do!
So I wanted to share with you guys my portfolio based around gender and how it is becoming a non-binary concept in modern society.
Links below so check it out guys!!!!

Cafe Mareva, Paris
So as if it wasn't clear from my Instagram feed, I went to Paris. The home of bread and pastry and pretty much the best damn cakes in the word. Unfortunately, I cant eat any of that stuff. Why? Because I'm vegan! I know what you are thinking, crazy animal girl but really I'm vegan because I have no choice! I'm allergic to most foods ...which is bloody brilliant! I guess I'm a low key vegan and I really shouldn't be. I think because most of my friends eat meat and look at me like I'm a complete weirdo that I don't really talk much about it. Let's be fair vegans get a bad wrap for being preachy which isn't necessarily a bad thing. In reality its something that is really cool and I get to experience the best foods!!
Anyway the struggle of travelling anywhere or even going out for dinner is finding foods that are vegan. Paris, I thought would have nothing that I could eat! I was wrong. My first breakfast in Paris was literally life changing. I went to this small little café close to the place I was staying called Café Mareva. The café prides itself on being dairy free and sold the most amazing waffles! I was feeling super healthy that day and ordered a smoothie bowl- like the ones you see on Instagram and OMG! I died! I'm pretty sure if I tried making it myself I would end up making some toxic slush! However, I'm still going to try, it is so worth the struggle!
So if you are ever in Paris definitely track down this café it is so worth it!! #noregrets

Paris
I went with my Uni, stayed in an amazing hostel called Generator which had both a rooftop and underground bar- the dream! The highlight though was entering the Metro with a group of fashion students, drunk and confusing French commuters as to why we were going out on a Wednesday night- apparently that's not a thing in Paris!!! However, we went to Bastille for a few cocktails and literally had the most amazing (and strong) sex on the beach cocktails! Okay, so I definitely had more than a few!!!! Still such a memorable night and I wished I could stay longer, I fell in love with the city hard and fast!
More Updates on Paris to come!

First Post
This seems like one of those awkward first post situations that every blogger has to do! I did a blog a few years ago but I'm pretty sure it was the worst thing ever. So, I decided to try again so here I am on that awkward first post AGAIN!
I'm just going to be generic and tell you guys a little about what I've been up to lately. So last year I decided I hate my job and needed a change. My solution was to move to London and go to University- something I was avoiding doing for years- biggest mistake of my life! Fast-forward to now, I'm studying a Fashion Marketing degree at the University of East London and living in a city that has so much opportunity and excitement that its unreal!
Basically, this blog is going to document what I get up to when it comes to fashion, amazing places I visit, my stress level at Uni and probably the food I eat- cause everyone loves food!
